Some Jetstar passengers will be denied access to the Qantas Club in Canberra under new rules coming into effect in July.
The change ends a long-standing arrangement that allowed certain Jetstar travellers to enter Qantas lounges, tightening access based on the type of ticket and a passenger’s frequent flyer status.
Under the revised policy, eligibility will vary, with some travellers still permitted entry while others will be turned away. Passengers on Jetstar international flights are expected to be largely excluded.
The airline is also moving to restrict the transfer of complimentary lounge invitations between Qantas customers and other travellers.
The changes mean Qantas Club members travelling on Jetstar from Canberra may need to confirm their eligibility with lounge staff before entry.
The update follows ongoing changes to Qantas’ frequent flyer status credit system, which are still being finalised.
