Motorists will face a series of overnight and weekend closures on Commonwealth Avenue over the coming weeks as work continues on Light Rail Stage 2A.
Construction crews are set to install track slab for future rail lines and carry out upgrades to underground utilities along the route through March and April.
The works will require temporary lane reductions and full road closures along sections of Commonwealth Avenue and Vernon Circle, with most disruptions scheduled outside peak periods.
The first closures will begin from Thursday night, with the Parkes Way westbound off-ramp on to Commonwealth Avenue southbound shut from 10pm to 4am.
Northbound traffic on Commonwealth Avenue will also be reduced to a single lane between Albert Street and Parkes Way across several nights between March 19 and March 23.
Further restrictions will follow the next week, including a full closure of Commonwealth Avenue in both directions between Parkes Way and Vernon Circle from 8pm Thursday, March 26 until 5am Monday, March 30, with detours in place.
Additional lane reductions will continue into April, including a prolonged southbound lane closure between Parkes Way and Vernon Circle through to April 27, and another full northbound closure scheduled from April 16 to April 20.
