Kim can’t help it – she just loves to renovate

Renovation Matters operations manager Amy Gannon, left, with owner Kim Persson.

Renovation Matters owner KIM PERSSON says she has always had a passion for renovating, and loves to help people any way she can.

“RENOVATION Matters has been running for more than two years now, but I’ve been in the industry for seven years,” says owner Kim Persson.

“The idea for my business actually came about when I went to a course, and they were telling us about how you could try and help people that maybe were going under by offering them a little bit less for their property.

“I thought, well how could it be a win-win instead, to go in and everyone get the most out of it instead, and that’s how I came up with the idea for Renovation Matters.”

Now she enjoys seeing people maximise their sale and move on with more money.

“I love just waking up every day and being able to do what I love,” she says.

“I really enjoy seeing the transformations of the before and after, and making sure people are moving away with as much as they can from their home.”

For those who don’t know, Kim says Renovation Matters covers pretty much everything in the renovation space.

“We help to renovate to sell or stay, but we also offer any type of renovation,” she says.

“Anything inside, outside, from a very small repair all the way up to a whole cosmetic renovation or extension, or we can help with new builds and landscaping.

“People can read about how we work and what we do through our website, or we have a handy explainer video for people who are more visual learners.”

Kim says she has a team behind her now, helping to further grow the business.

“I’ve got an operations manager, and I’ve got my team of subcontractors that I use regularly, and have used for many, many, many years,” she says.

“I trust everyone to give the best service possible, the quality of work always stands out to me, and you know when you work closely with someone for so long you help each other prioritise and become more flexible with your time frame.

“It works from both ends, I look after them, pay them on time and then they will always help me, and if I get into areas where I need to adjust timing, they’re more than happy to work around things like that.

“We help each other out.”

If you are looking to get some renovation works done before Christmas, Kim says get in touch pretty quickly.

“Or even get prepared for after Christmas, it’s good to be thinking about that now,” she says.

“Book us in so that we can book our tradies straight after they come back from their holidays.”

Renovated properties are selling a lot quicker than houses that need some work done too, says Kim.

“I actually talked to a couple of real estate agents, and they’re saying that that is definite,” she says.

“There are quite a few properties on the market at the moment, and the ones that are really nicely renovated and that look really good are the ones that are selling.

“The ones that need work are just sitting stagnant and they’re sometimes having to lower their prices.”

Kim says again, she has always been really interested in renovating and so it was just a given in her mind that she would do it full time, but it’s a bonus that she’s been able to own her own business.

“I just really enjoy it, so it’s really nice that it has become my reality,” she says.
