Seven ACT firefighters have left for the United States to help tackle the country’s ongoing wildfire season.

The deployment includes two ACT Rural Fire Service firefighters and five ACT Parks and Conservation Service personnel, who will undertake incident management and sector leadership roles.

The firefighters will travel to Boise, Idaho, for additional training before being deployed to Oregon or Washington state. More than 400 wildfires are currently burning across the United States.

The ACT crews will work alongside firefighters from across Australia and other countries, supporting wildfire suppression efforts while gaining experience that can be applied during future fire seasons in Australia.
