Arrested in Braddon… NSW escapee David Johnson.

The man who escaped from a correctional facility on the south coast last week has been arrested in a Braddon car park.

David Johnson, 44, was last seen on The Links Road, South Nowra, on the morning of January 29.

ACT police arrested him following reports of a man acting suspiciously in the underground carpark of an apartment block in Dooring Street, Braddon, at about 4.30am on Friday. Johnson was arrested in the stairwell and taken to the ACT Watchhouse.

By Friday afternoon the man had been extradited to NSW and taken to the Queanbeyan police station and charged with inmate escape/attempt to escape from lawful custody, taking and driving a conveyance without consent of owner and larceny.

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
