Located 40 minutes from Canberra, Bungendore has been named Australia’s Top Small Tourism Town for 2025.
Announced at the national awards ceremony at Australian Parliament House on Wednesday morning, Deputy Mayor of Queanbeyan Palerang Council (QPRC), Councillor Esma Livermore received the award on behalf of the town, saying it was a remarkable achievement for Bungendore and the region.
“The heart and soul of Bungendore are its people, and this national award is a well-deserved recognition of their dedication to creating memorable experiences for every visitor,” she says.
“We are incredibly proud to showcase the rich stories, artistry and incredible hospitality that Bungendore is famous for on a national stage.”
Expected to provide a boost to the local visitor economy, which already contributes expenditure and jobs to the region, QRPC Marketing team leader, Emmeline Chidley, says the award provides a platform to amplify their “Meet You in Bungendore” marketing campaign, designed to invite travellers to discover the town.
Freemantle in Western Australia won Australia’s Top Tourism Town for 2025 while Trentham in Victoria received the top spot for the Tiny Tourism Town category.
