How to turn 20 days of leave into 63 days of holidays

Australians can nearly triple their time off work next year with some savvy planning, according to comparison site Finder, with workers in the ACT being the luckiest and can get the most days off next year – 63.

Angus Kidman, Finder’s editor-in-chief, said Easter and Christmas were prime opportunities to stretch time off.

“You can enjoy a 16-day holiday in April by using seven days of annual leave from April 14 to April 24,” Kidman said.

“In 2025, Christmas and Boxing Day fall on Thursday and Friday, so you’re automatically guaranteed a four-day weekend without cutting into any annual leave. You only need to take three days (Monday–Wednesday) to have a 10-day holiday.”

Here’s how to maximise your leave in the ACT, with 11 public holidays, out to 63 days off.
