Free mental-health centre opens in Civic

The Canberra Medicare Mental Health Centre… supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and peer support workers.

A new, free, walk-in mental health care and support centre has opened in Civic.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre (formerly Canberra Head to Health) will provide immediate support for anyone who needs mental health advice or care as well as support for those in distress. It is supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and peer support workers.

Member for Canberra Alicia Payne says: “The community in Canberra can now access free mental health care close to home. The Canberra Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe and welcoming space for people in the community.”

The Medicare Mental Health Centre, 14 Childers Street. Open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8.30am-4.30pm and Tuesday and Thursday, 8.30am to 6.30pm. Call 5117 4357.
