Australia Post is reintroducing temporary weekend parcel deliveries from Saturday in anticipation of a “significant spike” in parcel volumes ahead of Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas online spending activity.
The weekend delivery service will be available in all metro capitals and will remain in place until Christmas, depending on volumes.
Gary Starr, of Australia Post said: “We’ve brought on thousands of additional team members and expanded our delivery options — including more self-service parcel lockers and extended post office trading hours — to make collecting parcels easier than ever.
“Last year we delivered nearly 103 million parcels over the Black Friday sales period, and we’re ready to go even bigger this holiday season.”
Australia Post says to ensure items arrive by Christmas, parcels should be sent by Monday, December 22, for same state deliveries and Friday, December 19, for interstate deliveries, or if sending via Express Post, by Tuesday, December 23. People sending to or from WA, NT, Tasmania or regional and remote locations, should allow a few extra days.
